I've taken some of my old computer junk to Midwest Electronic Recovery
(http://www.ewasterecycle.com/contactdm).  They only charge for laptop
computers, printers and CRT monitors.  Everything else they take free
of charge.  I had a bit of an electronics graveyard in my basement (CD
players, DVD players, tape decks, dead batteries, etc.).  They took it
all off my hands.
