If you get no relief from Microsoft (highly likely), consider
"upgrading" to OpenOffice (www.openoffice.org).  It is completely
free, imports all Microsoft formats, exports to most Microsoft
formats, and now has a Mac-native version available.  It is a full
office suite including word processor (Writer), spreadsheet (Calc),
presentations (Impress) and database (Base).

It is a hefty download at 162+ MB, so if you don't have broadband,
maybe someone can burn a CD of it for you and send it in the mail
(yes, I'm volunteering).
