[DM-MUG] Installing Leopard

Welcome Vince,

I have install/upgraded to Leopard on several machines. If your computer is
in pretty good health then you should be able to do the archive option. I
would not do the upgrade option.

First off do a backup of your home folder including the home Library Folder!
That's a must anytime.

I first make sure the disk permissions are in good order then restart the
Mac computer with Leopard install DVD.

Most of the machines I have done I can do the Archive option with no
problems at all.

I have had one or two that would not continue for a few weird reasons so I
then format the hard drive and then proceed to install the Leopard system
from scratch.

This of course take extra time since you'll have to reinstall all your 3rd
party apps & SN#s, and of course your home folder data.

Be sure to perform the disk permissions again after you restart Leopard and
then proceed to do the Leopard updates. It's up to 10.5.2 already.
