I sourced drives for an XRAID awhile back. Unfortunately, I don't
have access to the info I gathered while looking for them, but I have
some hints and tips.
* Unless the market has changed in the last 6 months, you can't find
NIB sleds with drives. If you need additional sleds/drives you'll
have to surf the used/eBay market. Good luck there.
* Older XRAID systems used parallel or PATA drives, but some of the
newer ones used SATA drives. Make sure you know which you need.
* Best way to find out what you need for drives is to pull one of the
existing drives and get the specs off of it.
* I had trouble several months ago finding 147 GB PATA drives. If
yours are the same, then they are probably much more difficult to find
now. The next best thing will be a 250 GB drive. Just realize that
adding these to an array will only result in 147 GB "used" for the
array and the rest left "idle"
Feel free to drop me a direct e-mail at kristau at gmail.com if you need
further guidance on this.
