[DM-MUG] back-up files...

Anyone have any ideas on which files to back-up to save on DVDs? So if my OS X 10.5 computer crashes while I am installing Leopard? Should I do a clean install?
Back-up files/folders such as the Users, system folder, applications, Library and preferences and so on. I do not have an external HD, so I don't have a lot of storage.
