[DM-MUG] Networking and access to Lexmark Printer on Ethernet network

the TC router is 10+++ [Apple tends to use 10+++ in my experience]
the computer is 10+++ and within the range
the manual IP for the printer is 10+++ and within the range
all is wired, no wireless
I can print just fine via Appletalk.  I have internet just fine.

and I hear Brothers are excellent machines and may just do that...but 
this is odd and I would like to solve it and save the $$ buying a new 
printer
