Ray -
Mine didn't have a password. I don't think you're looking at the cable
modem. Or perhaps Mediacom has started securing them. Perhaps you can post
a picture of the screen you see somewhere? Are there any graphics or
company names such as Motorola or Linksys or DLink or Cisco or something?
Or is it just a prompt for a password?
