[DM-MUG] Macs play with PC? (networking)

When connecting to the Windows share from your Mac, instead of giving
username and password, try giving the following:
<Win XP machine name>\username
password
Where <Win XP machine name> is the name of the Windows XP machine on
the network. The computer name can be found by right-clicking the My
Computer icon, selecting Properties, then clicking the Computer Name
tab.
Also double-check that the Windows XP firewall is turned off, though I
doubt that is the case because you would not get prompted for
username/password if it was on.
Windows XP expects the <Win XP machine name> part when you log in to a
share from another system. This is because XP is trying to
distinguish between local accounts and Active Directory accounts --
even when no AD environment is present.
