I tend to use other 3rd party solutions like Visual Hub, mpeg  
streamclip, divx and mpeg4 plugins to get away from Apple's AT/iMovie  
defaults. I prefer iView Media Pro over iPhoto etc. There are plenty  
other apps that do similar work with more speed, even if they add up  
to being more expensive and not as integrated.
