[DM-MUG] Slide scanning

I will agree that the 8400 is a great scanner, but it IS USB2 -  
here's a profile from the system info utility on my machine with the  
detail of my scanner:

   Bus Power (mA):	500
   Speed:	Up to 480 Mb/sec
   Manufacturer:	Canon
   Product ID:	0x221e
   Vendor ID:	0x04a9
===

480 MB/sec is USB2.
You may be thinking of Firewire (which the 8400 lacks).
And it does scan slides quite nicely (did a bunch of really old ones  
last year).
