While on the subject of 3rd World software, has anyone tried Mesa, a  
spreadsheet alternative to Excel?  I have MarinerCalc (Mariner  
Software) but was not impressed.  I see that Mesa is $34 and is  
already in "universal" format.

The Mac productivity software used to be an amazingly dynamic world.   
I remember fondly the spreadsheet wars and word-processor wars circa  
1990 (I fell into the Trapeze & WriteNow camps).  Fifteen years  
later, between Apple and Microsoft and Adobe, there isn't much left  
standing except at the shareware/freeware/cheapware margins.
