You need to replace it or get the nozzles cleaned. I had the same
problem with an Epson Stylus C86 less than a year old and they
replaced it under warranty. I hadn't known about turning it off at
night until this experience. The dollars and cents issue is whether
it is worth it to replace the nozzles. My instinct is a no but it
would depend on the cost of a replacement--under $100 for a printer
answers that for me.

A note about Epsons ink nozzles. The reason that color images are
better on my Epson than they are on my wife's HP is that the built-in
nozzles are of a higher quality and more expensive than the
throw-away ones in the HP cartridges. Canon's solution is the same
as Epson's--higher quality with the downside of nozzle clogging. I
have heard that it is easier to remove and clean the Canon's than it
is the Epson's. I personally would be willing to pay more for
cartridges to avoid this clogging problem.
