Hi,
Any thought as to the why of the following would be appreciated.
Wed. evening my spouse's iBook froze and I ran DiskWarrior to rebuilt
the directory. DW then froze wile attempting to write the optimize
directory to the HD. I stopped it, rebooted and tried DW again. Same
thing.
So I decided to be safe rather than use a possible defective
directory on my main drive. I had a backup from Tues night which I
had made before upgrading to 10.4.6. I erased the internal HD and
used SuperDuper to restore from the backup. That locked up about
halfway through. A second try with the same result. I used Disk
Utility Restore feature to restore after again erasing. Locked up
about 40% of the way through. Tried again with the same result. Then
used a second backup( backups are nice) with Disk utility and the
same result. Any ideas about why they will not complete the restore?
I am trying a restore from the second backup using SuperDuper. If it
doesn't work I will reinstall Tiger with the erase and install option
and use Migration Assistant to bring over her user files.
