[DM-MUG] 'old' Firelite FW HD -- what to do with it?

I have a Firelite 30G that failed [unfortunately after warranty] so I 
haven't used it [it won't appear on the desktop nor will it mount 
using Disk Utility] but there is/was sensitive info on it...how can I 
clean it off before getting rid of it or how can I clean it but fix 
it too?
