Q1: You are talking about setting the nice level. I'll look up =20
something about how to do this, and write back in a bit.

Q2: Yes. After the initial indexing, spotlight is hooked in with the =20
file system calls, so things are added and subtracted whenever files =20
are added or deleted.

Q3: Not sure about this either at the moment. There is a little =20
freeware app that you might find useful called  =20
"DisableTigerFeatures" that can be
found on MacUpdate.com. This will let you turn off dashboard and/or =20
spotlight.
