[DM-MUG] OS X upgrade questions

hi folks

just had a canon printer go kaput.  the replacement arrived today. but 
it requires an OS upgrade, dang it.

i'm running 10.2.8 and had been hoping to get along until i could 
acquire a rev2 20" imac with tiger installed.

what's the latest version i can get?
will i have to pay full price again to update my powerbook, too?
and pay again to update it to tiger?

(is "tiger" even the name of the next version?  i can't keep track of 
them all!)

(currently using a 4.5 year old imac dv500 with a gig of ram
and a 2 year old alu pb 867 with 640 mb ram)
