Before my 933MHz G4 14" iBook turned a year old, 4 keys had lost their ink. They weren't just flakes of lettering gone, but near blank keys. With Alan's help I was able to get warranty work done on it. Apple replaced the keyboard. Alan wisely encouraged me to get Apple care but I was broke at the time and had to decline.
Anyway, it's been a few months and guess what? The 's' key on my REPLACEMENT keyboard is flaking away. What the hell? How cheap is the ink on these things, or what am I doing that is so ink destructive? Do I just type too much? Do my fingers slide a little too much? Do I clean my hands too much and residue soap is washing the ink off?
I touch type so it doesn't matter to me if all the ink disappears, but how interesting...
