All,

The Expanded iBook Logic Board Repair Extension Program Ends 3/18/05 and
since it has already been expanded once I do not expect it to be expanded
again.

If you have an iBook that is having problems please contact us or another
Apple Service Provider this week to get it taken care of before the program
ends!!!!!

What's new with the iBook Logic Board Repair Extension Program?
 This expansion to the iBook Logic Board Repair Extension Program is the
inclusion of certain additional iBooks to the existing program. The Expande=
d
iBook Logic Board Repair Extension Program is a worldwide program covering
repair or replacement of the logic board in iBook models manufactured
between May 2001 and October 2003 that are experiencing specific component
failures.=20

 How does Apple define a "component failure" for this program?
 The Expanded iBook Logic Board Repair Extension Program covers iBooks that
have a specific component failure on the logic board, resulting in the
computer starting up but the built-in and attached external displays
exhibiting one or more of the following symptoms:
    =80      Scrambled or distorted video
    =80     Appearance of unexpected lines on the screen
    =80     Intermittent video image
    =80     Video freeze
    =80     Computer starts up to blank screen

For which computers is the Expanded iBook Logic Board Repair Extension
Program available?=20
 The program is available for certain iBook G3 models (see below for a
complete list) with serial numbers in the following range:

 UV117XXXXXX to UV342XXXXXX

 iBooks with the serial numbers listed above may be referred to as:
    =80      iBook (16 VRAM)
    =80     iBook (14.1 LCD 16 VRAM)
    =80     iBook (Opaque 16 VRAM)
    =80     iBook (32 VRAM)
    =80     iBook (14.1 LCD 32 VRAM)
    =80     iBook (800MHz 32 VRAM)
    =80     iBook (900MHz 32 VRAM)

Is the Expanded iBook Logic Board Repair Extension Program available for
other Apple computers?
 No. This program applies to those systems noted above.

 When does the expansion to the iBook Logic Board Repair Extension Program
begin?=20
 The original program began on January 28, 2004. This expansion, which adds
certain models, is effective immediately.

 How long is the Expanded iBook Logic Board Repair Extension Program
available?=20
 The program covers affected iBooks for three years after the first retail
sale of the unit or until March 18, 2005, whichever provides longer coverag=
e
for you. Apple will continue to evaluate the repair data and will provide
further repair extensions as needed.

 Is there a cost to customers who participate in the Expanded iBook Logic
Board Repair Extension Program?
 The repairs outlined in this program, including shipping charges, are
covered at Apple's cost.

 I paid for an eligible repair before the Expanded iBook Logic Board Repair
Extension Program began. Will Apple reimburse me for the cost of the repair=
?
 If you paid for an eligible repair, Apple will reimburse you for the cost
of the repair. To be reimbursed, please contact the Apple Contact Center.
The U.S. support number is 1-800-275-2273. Apple will pro-actively contact
affected customers where Apple has their contact information. Service that
was performed to repair damage caused by accident or misuse is not covered
under the program.=20

How can I tell if my computer is affected by the component failure
identified for the Expanded iBook Logic Board Repair Extension Program?
 Either an Apple technical support representative or an Authorized Apple
Service Provider (AASP) will determine if the component failure identified
for the Expanded iBook Logic Board Repair Extension Program affects your
computer and, if so, arrange for the repair. If your iBook is eligible for
this program, it will be repaired at Apple's cost, including shipping
charges. Repair may include repair or replacement of the main logic board.

 How can I participate in the Expanded iBook Logic Board Repair Extension
Program?=20
 To participate in the program, call the appropriate Apple Contact Center
for the country in which you are located, or contact a local AASP. The U.S.
support number is 1-800-275-2273.

 Will my repair be completed by an AASP or a Mac Genius at an Apple retail
store?=20
 In order to ensure the highest level of efficiency possible for all
customers, Apple is consolidating these repairs at the Apple Repair Center.
If your iBook is eligible for this program, an AASP or Mac Genius at an
Apple retail store can send your iBook to Apple for the repair.

 What if my computer exhibits symptoms not caused by the component Apple ha=

identified for the Expanded iBook Logic Board Repair Extension Program?
 It is possible that your iBook may exhibit display issues, or other issues=
,
that are unrelated to the specific component identified by Apple as part of
this program and are not covered under this program. Apple or an AASP can
help you troubleshoot these issues. If your iBook is not covered under
warranty or an extended service agreement, such as the AppleCare Protection
Plan, repairs for other issues will be your responsibility.

 I have a remanufactured iBook that fits the description noted, however, th=
e
serial number does not follow the format indicated. How can I determine
whether my iBook qualifies for the program?
 If your iBook is one of the models listed and exhibits one or more of the
symptoms above, call the appropriate Apple Contact Center for the country i=

which you are located, or contact a local AASP. The U.S. support number is
1-800-275-2273. Either an Apple technical support representative or an AASP
will determine if your product qualifies under the program and whether the
component failure identified for the Expanded iBook Logic Board Repair
Extension Program affects your computer.

 Does the Expanded iBook Logic Board Repair Extension Program extend the
warranty coverage on my iBook?
 No. This program does not extend the standard warranty coverage.
