[DM-MUG] formatted powerbook won't boot

I was trying to install Linux on a Powerbook 3400c, but I forgot to 
create the 800k boot partition.  Not surprisingly, now it won't boot.

The problem is, it won't read the floppy or the cdrom either.  I've 
tried to boot into open firmware (which fails), and I've zapped the 
pram, but when I try to boot off of the system tools floppy or the cd, 
it doesn't even try to access the respective drive

Is there anything I can do, or do I have a doorstop?
