I was never shocked, and it makes sense. In terms of what to rally around, it has always been and will always be Windows v. Mac OS X. Apple is a Software company, at least when it comes to innovation, but some won't believe that. What this does is put them head to head. Imagine, an OS that's Virus and Spyware free that runs on x86. And for those that say it will only run on Apple hardware? It will only last as long as someone hacks it.
