[DM-MUG] Apple moving to Intel - confirmed by Jobs at WWDC

I'm also shocked at the sudden and total Intel migration plan (so it's
XTel, MacTel or AppTel now?), though I had wondered about this in
general terms for some time. Apple has been leaning towards becoming a
cross-platform software company for years (see iPod, ITunes Airport
Admin Utility, OS X Server, and Quicktime for current examples).
Regardless of Apple's previous stance of, "We're a hardware company,"
they have been making inroads into software for some time. I suspect
that the confidence the iPod has imbued allows this plan to be more
palatable.

Though there is no obvious reason why Apple would do this (to us Mac
users anyway), I think Apple is showing great maturity in this
decision. There is no posturing or blaming and it looks like the real
reason this is going forward is very business oriented. It's a bit sad
to see that there's no blatant, vacuous, or childish reasoning behind
this. Apple is truly growing up. What cause should we all start
rallying around next?
