[DM-MUG] Apple moving to Intel - confirmed by Jobs at WWDC

No, they have stated you will NOT be able to run MacOS X for Intel on
anything but Mac hardware. (For now anyway...Steve Job's long term
master plan to destroy Bill Gates may let you one day. Not to mention
the efforts of all the hackers out there....)

Remember, Apple makes most of it's money from selling hardware, not Mac
OS X. So making Mac OS X for all Intel boxes would destroy Apple.
They couldn't hope to sell enough copies at $129 or s to make up for
the loss of hardware sales to the el-cheapo box makers.

But they should be able to much more closely match the price of the
"name brand" PCs. The Mini got them close. This will get them closer.
And the "megahertz myth" will now be history.

Plus, SoftPC should work MUCH faster when running on Intel hardware!
They already make SoftPC for Intel (that's the major reason Microsoft
bought it from Connectix, actually, so they could run
multiple/different copies of Windows on the same server.)
