[DM-MUG] CD-RW no seen on older MAC

I burned a CD-RW on my wife's iBook running 10.2.8. I used Toast and 
the MAC only option. If shows up on the iBook. It will not mount on 
my 6500 running OS 9.1 or on my daughters 4100 updated to OS 8.5. 
Wont these older machines recognize the RW?
