[DM-MUG] Qwest question vs. Prairieinet

I was in a similar situation where I had to choose between QWest MSN
and a local Ames company called ISUNet. I'm in West Des Moines. I
originally chose QWest until I discovered their MSN service didn't
offer a mail server incoming or outgoing, nor did it feature any
newsgroup support. Within a few days I switched to ISUNet and it's been
relatively smooth sailing. The only hangup I had, and it was QWest's
fault, is that during the transition QWest billed me an extra month of
MSN (I had to *make* 'em credit me), and they also had my account shut
off within 24 hours of the switch to ISUNet because of an accounting
mistake. I had to motivate them by telephone to turn my service back
on.
Since you can get a small web site with any other web host, some of
which will give you 1 Gig of space, and many Gigs of bandwidth for $10
and under (mine gives me a Gig of space, 30 Gigs bandwidth, 750 e-mail
addresses etc. for $12 CDN), I wouldn't worry about if the host offers
anything special.
Anyway, I've got the 1.5meg pipe with ISUNet/QWest and the performance
is fine.
warm wishes,
Darcy
