[DM-MUG] OS 9 Firewall?

A single Mac not running AppleTalk is pretty secure, but it's easy to
make a network right now that's secure and ready for multiple Macs
later (or OS X).

If you want to use OS 9 and share DSL through a house network (or to
another single machine) you can use IPNetRouter
<(http://www.sustworks.com/site/prod_ipr_overview.html)>. It's still
available for OS 9 and is pretty easy to set up. Like any router, it
can be complex, but the general setup is simple using their online
assistant. I've been using it for years and it firewalls my whole
network, provides DHCP and NAT. I run it on an 8500/150 and it provides
routing for my Classic/modern Macs and Windows.

With that said, if you're getting DSL, your provider has no doubt sold
or given you a DSL modem. With all the recent models on the market,
you're likely to get quite a bit of pseudo-router/firewall functions,
if not a complete set of router/firewall tools. Most often that's all
you need.
