I do apologize for making the assumption that her message was SPAM. 
The content did not seem immediately relating to a discussion and
there was no information within the message that seemed to be from her
specifically.  Therefore, I thought that someone may be using her
computer as an open-relay to send out SPAM.

That being said, it would be beneficial if such messages contained at
least something to identify them as something that relates.  I like
the idea of changing the subject to match an existing one or at the
very least a little note saying "hey guys, thought this sounded
interesting/looked like a good deal/etc...." so that it is more clear.

A newcomer to the list, such as myself, would probably be less
inclined to believe it was SPAM and just unsubscribe thinking that it
was the only type of material the list had to offer.
