[DM-MUG] (edited) Upgrading from Jaguar to Tiger???

You won't save money by stopping at Panther just to find that some
app next year only runs on Tiger. I'd probably add, though, that it
might make a lot of sense to have at least two clones of your old
system before taking the plunge. One I'd keep as a backup, and the
other I'd do an "Archive and Install" upgrade on. I wouldn't do a
standard upgrade, I've seen too many weird problems with this. Even
Archive and Install can leave an imprint on the system if you don't
carefully check all your previous apps, and utilities for Tiger
conformity.

I'd highly recommend starting over from a complete format of the
drive and clean install of the system. It takes time to get the
system looking like it did before, but it will net you the best
performance from the install, no leftover crud in the system, and a
chance to make sure all your apps are fully Tiger-compatible when you
re-install them one-at-a-time, and then test each app carefully.

...Right. Yes, I fully realize that only about .001 percent of
computer users actually do this, but then again, that's why I have a
job.
