You still need to verify that your AC adapter will TRULY switch (most
laptops do). Apple has started to save money/track sales by including
only that power supply in which region you live. The iMac is the
first example I've read recently to have this "feature." And, yes, it
will blow up and may not be warranty covered if you take it overseas
and plug it in.
I've placed my camera (CF-based) and laptop through three or more
airport systems scanners last year. I don't know why a persistent CF
RAM image would go away unless there's a new more powerful MRI-type
system that's not in wide use at every airport yet.
