[DM-MUG] iPod is having problems

On some songs on my iPod, the hard drive won't play and goes into a  
repetitive clicking routing:

click
click
rrrrrrrratclick

*pause*

click
click
click

And repeat.

It's also been refusing to play through some songs and would just  
skip forward to the next, or would suddenly reboot itself mid-song.

Has anybody else had this happen to them? Do you think it's a bad  
hard drive? I've reset to factory several times and reformatted here  
and there trying to fix it. But now, it's doing the clicking thing.  
It's been doing it non stop on an endless loop all throughout the  
writing of this message. I also tried using disk utility, but it  
doesn't do a surface scan and only a file structure scan, which is  
coming back just fine.
