Yes, I have been reading about the alternatives. To clarify my 
question is really about whether drag-and-drop will work or if he 
should clone it.

That said--for my uses CCC works well although I understand its 
limits. I might try Apple Backup and see how it works.

Is that other discussion the one on Mac-L or is it another one?
