The perfect Mac story.

I recently bought a USB flash drive.

When I attached it to my Mac the Flash drive mounted without any=20
problem and was instantly ready for use.

When I attached it to my Wintel box (XP version) it would not mount. No=20=

matter what. So, off to Google and the manufacturers website where I=20
found this:

FAQ

Question 117: "When installing the Flash Drive on a networked computer=20=

I can't see it in My Computer. How can I fix this?"

=A0Answer "Here are the steps to reassigning the drive letter in Win2000=20=

and in WinXP. "
	1. Right click My Computer and select Manage.
	2. After the Computer Management console has opened select =
Storage=20
then Disk Management folder in the left window.
	3. On the right side in the bottom section, right click =
the drive=20
that corresponds to the Attache and select Change Drive Letter and Path=20=

to a known NON-Network Drive letter.
	4. Click OK until you are back to the Desktop
	5. NOTE: Changing drive letter or your Hard Drive (C) may =
affect the=20
operation of some of your software =96 this is not the one that you want=20=

to change. If you do this it may be necessary to reinstall the software=20=

for the programs that no longer respond =96 please use caution when=20
changing drive letters.

Both my Mac box and the Wintel box are on the network but only one=20
"knows" how to behave without help.

I'm certain that there are things about the Mac OS that make others=20
cringe but I find this kind of DOS prompt behavior by Micro$oft=20
unforgivable.

Best, Doug
