It might have s-video and that should work without a breakout cable.
Sometimes it even has a front port hidden by a door. You'd just need to
plug it in, switch the input and maybe sleep and reawaken the Mac. It's
the same connector-type as Apple's old ADB--4-pin mini-din. Problem is,
if they're not using S-video, it might not be "switched-on." Some older
TV's have alternate connectors per input and you have to enable the
proper type from within a menu. However, recent TV's may auto-sense
incoming signals and "just work" (like a Mac).
If you have to use Composite inputs (Yellow=video, Red/White is R/L
audio), you might need a breakout cable that goes into your PowerBook's
S-video port. That's almost guaranteed to be on the front input panel
and there should be more of those on the rear as well.
