It all depends.
For an actual "Presentation" I think I'd start w/ Keynote.
If it's just photos, I'd start w/ iPhoto
if it involves moving images I've got myself pretty hooked on DVD's
Remember one can definitely mix and match EG:
Training Video:
Keynote for "slide" elements
Captured "moving screenshots" using Screen Recorder (or Snapz Pro)
Both of those can be exported to QT and then imported to:
iMovie (or FCE/P)
Where I can overdub narration, etc.
I can add other moving elements (like live video, etc.)
Another thing to ponder - for web dist. Keynote can now output (simple)
Flash files (similar caveats to powerpoint export apply).
W/ GarageBand it's also pretty easy to get "original" music whipped up
pretty quickly using loops. No worries about Copyright.
