I know some of you may already know these tips. I'm posting them
because I find a large number of people who don't know them but are
pleased when they do. I fact, I just found #1 about 5 minutes ago
after assuming it would never make it over from OS 9.
1. (An old OS 9 trick) If you drag a file to a window Title Bar, it
finally places the file in the next open location in that window.
(Yay! I missed this one!)
Prior X versions only placed the file wherever *inside* the window
you dropped it, excepting sorted views. This is handy for adding
files to windows in which you cannot see the body and Windowshaded
windows. I'm not sure when it returned because I'd given up trying it
around early 10.3 revs-it may have been re-introduced in 10.3.5.
Corrections welcome.
2. Holding the Command key while dragging MOVES a file. Of course,
Option-Drag copies and Cmd-Opt-Drag makes an alias. This is little
known but has been around for a while.
Extra For PowerBook users:
Fn-Opt-Delete forward deletes a whole word
Fn-Cmd-Delete forward deletes the rest of the line.
(you have to hold the below combos for a second or two, full-size
desktop keyboards have the same function but do not have the delay)
Opt-Cmd-Eject sleeps
Ctrl-Opt-Cmd-Eject shuts down
Ctrl-Cmd-Eject Restarts
