[DM-MUG] Best Utility?

Comparing Disk Warrior (DW) and Tech Tool Pro (TTP) is a little like
comparing apples and oranges. DW does one job, very very well. It
creates the catalog file of a given disk. This is the file that tells
the computer where all the files are located on the drive and defines
the volume parameters (like how big the partition is and if it is
bootable, etc.) TTP on the other hand, performs a wide array of tests
on hardware and disks and files. It also has a routine to repair the
catalog information. TTP looks at the catalog file to make sure it is
well formed and corrects the errors that it sees. DW looks at all the
files and creates a new, optimized catalog to describe those files. So,
even for the same task, the two programs use a different technique.

My take is that DW does a superb job - much better than anything else
for catalog problems. TTP is good too, but I would use it for
defragging, and testing hardware (like RAM chips). If I were looking at
a sick mac and wanted to get it working, I'd much rather have DW than
TTP.

YMMV.
