While it is interesting to see what the NSA does for security, I would
not recommend following these procedures to the letter for most users.
Make sure you know what each step is going to do before you do it.
First, they require a erasure of the entire hard drive between system
upgrades. This means anything you don't have backed up is toast.
Second, they disable any way for audio or video recording to occur
through the computer. This includes disabling iSight drivers, and
physically disabling microphones. While necessary anywhere national
insecurity is needed, it is not necessary in your home, nor would I
recommend it.
These are the biggest two things that I remember from reading it, I'm
sure there are other things that I have forgotten.
