For DVD playback, you might want to check your system preferences.  Under
your Apple menu, select System Preferences, then click on CDs and DVDs.
Five drop-down menus will appear.  In the last menu, be sure that =B3Open DVD
Player=B2 is selected when you insert a video CD.
