[DM-MUG] web site advice

I have had several suggestions to place photos and documents which my wife wishes to transmit to others on a web site and let people download them. This would solve some problems with them not arriving. 

My ISP, MediaCom, offers free web page space to members with a lot of tools to help develop the page. 

Apple's .Mac account seems to be attractive also. 

Any advice on why I should go with the .Mac account for people who are not too good with computers? The $100 is not trivial.
