We have a situation at our house and we have been unsuccessful in completely=
=20
solving.=A0 In addition, we have absolutely NO IDEA how it happened.=A0

I have an iMac running 10.2.8.=A0 (all systems up to date as of last night)=20=
Our=20
son has a 20 GB iPod which he received for Christmas.=A0 At any rate,=20
everything had been running fine until something went haywire on Monday.=A0=20=
We have no=20
idea how it occurred.

My hard drive icon disappeared.=A0=A0 In it's place is an icon very closely=20
similar to the iPod icon and it opens just like my hard drive did.=A0 The fi=
les from=20
my hard drive all appear to be there.=A0 I have not been able to locate the=20=
hard=20
drive icon anywhere else through numerous searches.=A0 Basically, you'd say=20
that the icon has changed, but other components appear to be okay when openi=
ng=20
that icon.=A0 My son said it renamed it when he reset the iPod.=A0 It now sa=
ys=20
Macintosh HD whereas I had it labeled Hard Drive previously.

At this same time the iPod icon disappeared.=A0 He had about 1700 songs on h=
is=20
iPod.=A0 He tried resetting it, but couldn't get things back to where they w=
ere=20
supposed to go.=A0 We've gone through the trouble-shooting and have tried=20
everything.=A0 We can't find the icon for the iPod.=A0 I did install the upd=
ate for iPod=20
last night.=A0 Now the iPod icon is back, but again, there is 7.2 of space u=
sed=20
that really isn't there, leaving less than he needs to get things back onto=20
the iPod.=A0 Resetting has not eliminated that 7.2 so he can just do his upl=
oad=20
from iTunes again.

Any ideas on what we have inadvertently done?=A0 And, better yet.... what ca=
n=20
we do to solve this?

Thanks so much.=A0 I don't read every post, but have learned so much from=20
reading many of them, that I'm hoping one or more of you can help solve this=
.

Thanks.
Jenny
