Hey there Allen,

Yeah, all mail attachments are converted into text before they are sent 
- not just with AOL, but with all email. There are a few methods that 
computers use to convert binary files into text form (e.g. uu encoding 
and hqx encoding). Some platforms handle some of these encoding methods 
better than others. When you check the 'windows friendly' attachment 
option in Mail, it uses a different encoding method. Hope that helps.
