Actually you can purchase a new Kensington Trackball with ADB and USB
ports. A bit expensive but I am tempted--it would fit my present
needs and if my wife wins the argument and I buy a new machine it
would work with that machine. There is an issue from my point of view
with the design of the Logitech Mouse. My problem, not theirs.I am
having some unsteadiness with my middle finger and this causes
problems. I actually like controlling the movement with my thumb and
having my fingers right over the buttons all the time. It fits very
nicely.

Intriguing question. It is not saving the button settings but the
settings for mouse are being saved as is a setting to set the cursor
at the default button in a dialogue. This argues that the button
preferences are not being saved correctly. Thanks for the idea.

Interesting. The preferences are in a Logitech folder in system
preferences. If I did this I would know whether the button
preferences are actually being saved at all.

Reinstalling with extensions off was their idea. So far no freezes.
I'll post amy news about this.
