[DM-MUG] Television as iBook monitor

I would like to use my iBook (G3 600 MHz/640 Mg) to play DVDs and
watch them on the television set.

Apple help on the iBook says to turn the TV off and shut down the
computer. Then connect the cables and restart the computer and turn
the TV on. I have the TV cable plugged into a VCR and the VCR to the
TV. If I plug my cable from the computer to the video-in and the
audio-in on the VCR the iBook doesn't seem to want to start. If I
wait for the "bong" and then plug it is it will boot but no picture
from the computer on the TV screen. If I go to System Preferences >
Displays there seem to be two displays showing: a 60 Hz NTSC and a 50
HZ PAL. Am I correct that the red plug is not used in this setup and
that the other two plug into the video-in and the audio-in or did I
misunderstand?

TIA
