I just checked MicroSoft's Mac Website <http://www.mactopia.com> and
it is showing standalone VPC with your choice of Windows version. XP
is $269, I didn't check the others. I would check CompUSA and online
vendors. I just checked a couple of online vendors and their prices
are a lot lower than MS. You can buy a one with the system although
2000, XP Home and XP PRO seem to be all that are available. You can
also buy one with no system and install your own (Linux anyone?)
MicroSoft taking over VPC is negative in that it increases their
monopoly but almost immediately they came out with an update which
bumped the speed up. MS makes a lot of effort to have their Mac
software be good-in my opinion IE and Entourage for the Mac are
superior to their Windoze counterparts. The Mac versions are not
ports--they are Mac specific.
