[DM-MUG] Son to College, Need a A Mac

I recently took my daughters to look at Macs at CompUSA.  My intention 
was to by my oldest, going into middle school next fall, her own eMac.  
She took one look and said she preferred the old iMac we have, or else 
one of those cute 12-inch laptops she saw near the eMacs.

Boys might be a little bit different, but they likely have a similar 
need to make a statement with their computer selection.

By the way, I ended up buying a used iBook when in KC a few weeks ago.  
It is only a G3, which is a potential problem, but it has lots of ram 
and an airport card, so it will handle her needs for a few years.  To 
me, it was ironic that she preferred this to either my G4 PowerBook or 
the eMac, which are more powerful.  She was more interested in how it 
looked, etc.  Go figure.
