If the files are problem from file sharing with a Windows machine, you
can go to My Computer - > Tools -> Folder options I think and then go
to the last tab to select "hide system files" or "known file types". I
can't remember just now.
I often do a search (right click on Start menu, click on "Search") for
.DS_Store and WinXP remembers that search every subsequent time I go in
there so that I only have to type a period, and the rest pops up and I
just have to hit enter. Then from the search results, I click the first
one and do a Control+A to highlight all, and then hit the delete key to
get rid of them.
In OS 10.3, they're automatically hidden, but I'm guessing you know
that already.
