Spyware is PC software that is downloaded to your computer somehow, hides and sends information back to the mothership--passwords, IDs, Social Security numbers. The only think like it in the Mac world is that some commercial software will want to check for updates. As far as I have heard there is no spyware infecting Macs. A clue here is that it says it detected spyware on your machine but didn't notice that it is a Mac. If you get a little paranoid you might download Little Snitch. It will detect any program trying to call out (including your email and browser) and ask you what you want to do about it- allow, allow always or refuse. -- Ray Des Moines, IA Mac Users Group Fourth Tues of the month. I am using XP so it might be a little different. In the control panel clicking "Internet Settings" the "Automatiically Detect Settings" is not checked. One setting there has my mchsi as the default ISP. Under the settings tab the mchsi.com setting has the username: rbowler@mchsi.com and the password. I have IE offline and OE offline at the moment so the control panel has the settings set for no in use. One place to start on this is at the MS site: This will lead to some support questions. To keep track, you can subscribe to the dmmug ical file <-just click on that link, and set the meeting to send you an alarm. On Jul 28, 2004, at 2:37 PM, Owen Duncan wrote: > May non-members attend?
