[DM-MUG] iMac firmware upgrade problem

I bought some RAM recently and tried to test it in my iMac DVD (400Mhz). My
iMac didn't see the RAM. After looking up the iMAc on lowendmac.com I
discovered that the firmware upgrade we made to the computer may have effected its
ability to recognize RAM not produced by Apple. What a great ploy by Apple to
sell their own RAM. Anyway, has anyone heard of this problem and if so, has
anyone heard if Apple release another update to get rid of this problem. Online,
I read where one person basically lost all the memory they had added to their
computer.

PS. The RAM is the correct type and configuration for the iMAc. PC-100
SDRAM.
