I think that shopping at Travis or Stogdill's is the best route to go.
Dealing with a local vendor who actually services what they sell should be
rewarded.  I have several times shopped around and then gone to Travis and
Stogdill's and asked them to match the best price that I found.  They
couldn't match it one time but it was close enough.  Also, knowing that I
could get it serviced there later without sending it out for repair made it
the best investment.  My Sony VCR that I got at Stogdills and later service=
d
there made it worth it.

And years ago when Travis also sold Magnavox I took him not only my TV but
also my computer display for my Apple IIGS and he repaired it as well under
warranty.  All of the VCR's and TV's that I actually purchased for myself I
got from these two places because they service what they sell.

Being a local independent dealer is tough but these guys know how to provid=
e
service and that is what keeps customers coming back.

One thing to keep in mind is that these plasma displays that everyone likes
to admire is that in 3 years or so they start getting noticeably dimmer.
The good thing about CRT's is that they last for 10 years (sometimes too
long).  So keep these things in mind.
