I believe you mean "driver" online. No, you don't need to install a=20
driver for this printer, it already exists in Mac OS X if you're using=20=
10.3.4. Just open the Printer Setup Utility and Choose "Add" in the=20
toolbar atop the window. After a few seconds, you'll get another dialog=20=
and in the pull-down menu there should be an option for Epson USB. If=20
the printer is plugged into a USB port, you'll see it show up in the=20
window above. Click it and you're done.
If you've already taken it back, you might be pleased to know that this=20=
is definitely a case where buying the cheapest printer you can find=20
will NOT save you money. No inkjet is inexpensive. Don't get caught up=20=
in the "initial price" scam. Leave that to Windows users. The ink you=20
are required to buy (and buy, and buy, and buy) is horrendously=20
expensive. I'd like to think I'm pretty frugal with my HP DeskJet=20
932c=97for a business. I print occasional high-quality photos for home=20=
but many, many invoices to clients. I use draft mode almost exclusively=20=
and I have to spend about $150 every 8 months for ink. That's the price=20=
of ONE toner cartridge and I haven't had to replace the toner cart in=20
my LaserWriter in 4 years.
For real longevity (read: Return On Investment, a.k.a. Save money by=20
spending money) look into the HP LaserJet 1012, $199 (retail). It's=20
faster than an inkjet and will cost less over time. It's also the same=20=
physical size as most inkjets.
If you really must have an inkjet, get one with multiple removable=20
cartridges for each color and don't buy the lowest model number.=20
They're just not as reliable.
