[DM-MUG] X and Office

as a mostly basic-level user who hasn't yet made much use of all the 
great "digital hub" apps that come with X, i'm sorely disappointed with 
  the speed of X (10.2.6) and ms's office for X.  all elementary 
functions like opening, saving, re-sizing are excruciatingly slow - on 
both crt imac 500 g3 with a gig of memory and 12" pb g4 with maxed 
out-memory.  though a neanderthal with technology generally, even i 
managed to learn my way around 8.1-9.2 enough to do installations and 
occasionally a little trouble-shooting. X remains utterly opaque to me 
even after using for a year. i hope panther improves on some of the os 
basics and comes with some training material suited to the non-tech 
user.
for my taste, office is a bloated, fuzzy-looking mess compared to its 
'98 iteration, in spite of some improved features.  i prefer using '98 
in classic (and find it faster!) when i don't need a new feature.
